War, plague, famine - have any of these spurred me to action? No. (Though they are obviously exceedingly worthy objects of a personal crusade and I fully support such. If that's your thing - just show me where to go, sign, protest etc).
No, it's the news that Conde Naste has decided to close Domino that broke this camel's back.
After a week of crying in my chianti (one finds reds very soothing at this time of year), I have decided that I REFUSE to accept this lying down.
I haven't *quite* figured out how I'm going to convince Conde to reverse this very unwise course of action - YET. But I will. There is so much ugliness out there right now - beauty and pleasure must be cherished and defended.
Internet - we must revolt.

Please add me to your blog list! caflowergirls.blogspot.com. Claudia (paris apartment) and I tried to start this same idea but you have rocked it out of the park! I posted on my blog the letter I have sent to Conde Nast and many of the other media outlets that ran the Domino closing information. What can I do to help you?
Count me in! I will post your banner on my site right now. I sent an email today after reading this. Maybe we can let them know with letters and emails but also the strength of the blogging community.
They have a chance to change the way corporations do business and be a leader instead of folding. We are all willing to pay more for an issue as it's a valuable resource to us. Conde Nast should parlay that into something between a book and a mag that readers will save instead of creating more stuff to recycle. They've said they would pay $5 an issue and pay to get into the website.
This is just bad business not too. Who are all these new people?

Another thought: maybe you could provide us with a side bar button that links readers directly here?
dang link won't display, anyway let me know if you want it and I'll email it to you. it's about who's who. I'm not sure if this guy's still there but maybe we can start with him.

Can all post a counter and you tally the results? Do you have a poll we all can use?
Ladies - thank you so much!
Petunia, caflowergirls.blogspot.com is on!
I am a little new to blogging - what is a side bar button? I am so happy to provide whatever is needed?
Please set the display and links and stuff.
I'll send a email to maurie and advocate change!
A button is a widget we can post on our side bar that will let peeps just click from our blogs and be directed here. I'll see if I can make one for you if you'd like?
That would be AWESOME. I can send you the graphics from my banner when I get home tonight if that's helpful?
I'm not sure how to add your banner to a button. This is the first one I've ever made! Maybe someone else can personalize it with your banner. This at least can get us started.
I loved (past tense) Domino as much as any red-blooded American design enthusiast, but I don't see how you propose this resurrection to happen.
Domino was a money loser from its inception, to the tune of $40 million over its 3+ years. Two weeks ago its staff was dismissed, and its offices are already occupied by another publication.
I think it would be incredible for someone like yourself to channel all that enthusiasm and energy into starting a really relevant web 'zine covering similar topics.
