Wallpapers of Yellow Chinoisere

Apologies, dear readers, many many apologies because I find myself falling victim to blogging tendency that I find most irritating in other design bogs - namely, too much writing and not enough pretty pictures! Mortification and sorrow abound. In order to atone for my sins, I thought I would do a montage of yellow chinoisere wallpaper, which is an option I am considering for the dream house dining room... Juicy Couture's Pamela Skaist-Levy's house, featured in Bazaar, inspired the thinking. I just LOVE everything about this room...

In Honor of the Girls

Those who know me well know that I need absolutely no excuse to expound on the color pink (you'll note this blog's title). But since it is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I thought I would follow Mrs. Blandings' fabulous lead and do my bit to raise awareness by blogging on pink for the day. Instead of going the Dorothy Draper route, and don't get me wrong , I ADORE Ms. Draper, I thought I would reflect on my most favorite use of pink EVER, my magical wedding reception:

Dreaming of a Creative Cottage

So one of the "must-haves" for our dream house, which we may have found ... *IF* we can convince the sellers to knock $500,000 off the listing price. Minor hiccup. Our dream house must have a designated space for me to create. Ideally, this would be a cottage by the sea where I could write, craft and spraypaint old furniture to my heart's content. However, unless we win the lotto, which is obviously totally possible, it will most likely be a room in our house where I can write, craft and spraypaint old furniture to my heart's content.

Thoughts on Kelly

Being an uber-prep by birth, somewhat by choice but mainly by basic resignation to the fates, I've been thrilled by the recent resurgence of preppy chic. From J.Crew to Jonathan Adler, the blue blazer and pearls are definitely back in full effect. I am particularly pleased by the kelly green palettes that have been popping up everywhere. For instance this delicious bedroom from Mr. Adler:

Mr. Wentworth is rolling his eyes, taking deep inhalations of breath and looks like he may say "Yes, dear" at any moment. He has embraced the phrase "Yes dear" but delivers it in a long-suffering tone tinged with sarcasm... at which point I have to growl at him ... and then he does this innocent "What? Who me?" thing and looks like a lost puppy... makes me insane. Anywho...

Which is why I almost had to excuse myself to have a private moment (*ehem*), over Ms. Martha Stewart's crafts room.

I just want to sneak up there on a rainy Saturday morning with a cup of tea, open all of the drawers and admire the pretty colors. And while I will paint the furniture in my creative refuge a lovely shade of aqua, this is just the most amazing rooms ever and I want one.

I love how everything is organized ...

Look at all of the work space!

I mean really.
With love,

Being an uber-prep by birth, somewhat by choice but mainly by basic resignation to the fates, I've been thrilled by the recent resurgence of preppy chic. From J.Crew to Jonathan Adler, the blue blazer and pearls are definitely back in full effect.

I am particularly pleased by the kelly green palettes that have been popping up everywhere. For instance this delicious bedroom from Mr. Adler:

And a wonderfully preppy monogram (although when are monograms NOT preppy?) by Jack & Lulu:

And this - the most beautiful dining room ever decorated (hyperbole and likely to be disputed/contradicted later on but its definitely my choice for 2008) by Mary MacDonald:

And speak of all things Kelly... I am one of the masses who adore Ms. Kelly Wearstler. And, although I would adore her more without the crimped-out/cracked-out hair that she's been sporting on Top Design (mother of god, woman, comb thyself!), there is no denying the fabulousness of her designs. She has a wonderful elegance and confidence...

Which was why I was more than a little shocked to see Decorno's post on her days as a Playboy pinup (WARNING - Ms. Wearstler's bosoms are featured QUITE prominently).

Now, my past is not without its scandalous tidbits (Mr. Wentworth encourages me to use the term "titbits" which is British for tidbits apparently, but I am vetoing his suggestion as being just a bit too much) Yes, Mr. Wentworth is British...and proud of it. He's also very handsome in my humble opinion and the combination of his cheeky smile and delicious accent is probably why he gets away with far more than he should. But when a man says things like, "Shall I help you tidy?" I mean really who wouldn't just melt into a puddle on the floor? But I digress.)

I'm sure there are a few indiscreet pictures of me floating about - in fact my wedding photographer insisted on photographing my person as I wiggled into my wedding dress...upon hearing this Mr. Wentworth was not too pleased and inquired as to, "Why the photographer was seeing you in your knickers?" Humm.

Where was I?

Oh yes, the prominent display of Ms. Wearstlers bosoms in Playboy. I'm all for fabulous females embracing their beauty and being proud of their figures - but not so a man can sit there and pretend to read the articles. (I love that they think we buy this).

Ladies, if we got together and collectively decided to stop starving ourselves, we would be officially ruling the world within six months - think about the amount of time and energy we devote to making ourselves looking like adolescent boys.

I was just sad to see Ms. Wearstler as a Playboy bunny. It knocked her off of the pedestal of fabulousness on which I had placed her and brought her back down to human being trying to make a living. And I know this makes me a judgmental b*tch, but there you go.

With love,
Wentworth.

So I decided to follow my BLISS and start blogging on design...and wouldn't you know it, the universe being the gloriously wonderful place that it is, Domino magazine selected one of my deco books as one of the

BEST DECO BOOKS

on their site! Granted they are trying to promote the deco book tool - which is GENIUS for those of us click and save with great abandon - but still - they like me, they really really like me!) Altogether, a very fortuitous beginning... extremely pleasing on a number of levels.

If you'd like to have a looksy, my decor book is available for your viewing pleasure:
